The 33rd season is half over now in the Nanton Nite Rodeo, after the third rodeo on July 14, and competitors are checking the results to see if they are contenders for the coveted Nanton Nite Rodeo buckles.
Although Chesney Pighin had a broken pattern in the novice barrels on Saturday, she?s still in top position for accumulated points for the season, with 80. Shelby Smith and Martyna Lively are hot on her heels with 70 points each. Jaycee Palmer had the fast time on Saturday with a run of 15.986 seconds, followed by Lively with 16.713 seconds and Reva Wilson with 16.776.
Brooke Martine had the fast time with a run of 17.312 seconds, followed by Reata Schlosser with a 17.632 second run, and Fallon Nelson coming in third with a 17.312. Jesse Sawley placed fourth with a time of 17.876 seconds. Alisha Stevenson and Reata Schlosser are both sitting with 60 points in the junior barrels, leading the accumulated points, while Fallon Nelson is sitting with 50 points. Ashley Nelson, Nicole Tremblay and Brooke Martine all have 40 points, for a close race.
Reata Schlosser led the way in junior poles on Saturday. Brooke Martine took second, Alisha Stevenson was third and Robyn Lively placed fourth. This win gave Schlosser the lead with 80 accumulated points,with Martine and Lively tied for second with 40 points.
Shelby Smith and Carla Bick took the top spot in the Nanton Nite Rodeo?s adult/child team roping on Saturday. That puts Smith in the top spot with an accumulated 80 points to date for heeling. Father-daughter team of Blake Schlosser and Reata Schlosser both have 70 points accumulated, followed by Dustin Gonnet and Carla Bick both sitting at 40 points each in heading.
Quinn Hawk was the only roper to rope her calf in the breakaway roping, which she did with a time of 7.3 seconds. Lakota Bird is sitting in first with 50 points, while Hawk, Tristan Woolsey and Quinton Taylor all have 40.
Jesse Loree has a healthy lead in the senior barrels with 110 points, with a fast time of 16.943 seconds. Cory Hawk placed second with 17.481 seconds, and she has 50 points. Jaycee Hawk has 40 points accumulated.
Jaycee Hawk has 80 points in senior poles, followed by Carla Bick , Kaitlan Schlosser and Pauline Hawk sitting with 40 points each.
Bill Holmes is sitting in top spot for team roping with 80 points, followed by Mike Holmes, Dennis Hambling and Tristan Woolsey, who have 70 points each.
Stran Schlosser has a healthy advantage in the tie down roping with 110 points after a fast time of 15.3 seconds.
Dallas Burns had the only qualified ride on Saturday in the bronc riding. He?s got 80 points for the season.
Cooper Zur, Blaine Dixon, Ron Hunt and Brandon Naumczyk all have 40 points in the cow riding. Hunt had a 70-point ride on Saturday.
Wilson MacDonald had a 68-point ride in the steer riding, putting him in the lead with 80 points. Curtis Clark has 70.
Although there were no qualified rides in bullriding on Saturday, Dustin Macleay and Cooper Zur both have 35 points for the season.
The next rodeo is Friday (July 20) at 7 p.m.
