ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) ? Some residents of the Lindell apartment fire may be learning a difficult lesson. Without renters insurance, their damaged belongings may not be covered.

Jim Camoriano with Missouri-based State Farm Insurance says there are two primary reasons that 70 percent of renters don?t have renters insurance. One, they may believe their landlord will cover any losses. He says that?s not the case.

And secondly some renters believe renters insurance is too expensive. Camoriano says, ?Really renters insurance on average cost about the price of one pizza a month.?

He says there are different policies that come into play with all the electronics that students may have in college but he says it?s important to check with your insurance providers to understand what is covered and what isn?t.
