DETROIT (AP) ? A suspect in the shooting deaths of two men had to turn himself in twice before Detroit police arrested him.
Detroit police say in a statement that the 36-year-old man shot four men at a gathering Saturday and two died. The survivors were seriously wounded.
Police say the man went to a Detroit fire station about two hours later "and indicated that he was connected to the shooting." Fire officials called police, but no officers turned up.
The police statement says that "due to area patrols being busy handling high priority runs, no units were dispatched."
Police say the man eventually left the fire station and went to a police station, where he was arrested.
The Associated Press left a message with police Sunday seeking an update on the case.
