How fun is this new coffee shop? Joshua Zad is the guy responsible for better Stumptown brews now dripping on Melrose Place thanks to Alfred, his day old cafe near Alfred Street. As a local resident, Zad struggled to find a spot with quality coffee and a decent, quick bite, so after relocating from Los Angeles to Dallas and back to Los Angeles, he decided to design a friendly, specialty neighborhood coffee shop. And here it is, with a working fireplace and live music to come on Friday afternoons.
Identifying with the haute retail merchants nearby, Zad commissioned Rag & Bone to design worker uniforms "to reflect the high-end nature of the block." See the menu right here. Alfred is starting off with coffee, tea, and pastries and will introduce salads and sandwiches in the coming weeks. [EaterWire]
