New artist "Immi" highlights immigration | Chican?sima: Latino ...

By Teresa Puente, today at 6:27 pm

I came across a new Latino artist calling himself "Immi," who promotes a message of cultural diversity and tolerance of immigrants. The 21-year-old immigrated from Argentina to New York when he was 14.

The song and video is about following your dreams and never giving up. Here are some of the lyrics:

I know people come into the country every day
To start a family
To make money, to start over
Just know it's me, el immigrante
Representing you!

We travelled through the desert
We came across the sea
Don't you forget that
Your abuelos were once like me

I hope that for 2013 President Obama and Congress will work on comprehensive immigration reform so that more immigrants can become equal members of this society and follow their dreams.
