Family Events Saturday 13^th July

Natural History Museum, Big Nature Day: Pack up the kids and head over to South Kensington for puppet shows, lady bird spotting, face painting, dress up, and meet with naturalist and scientists.? 11am-5pm, free, all ages, in the Darwin Centre and the Wildlife Garden.

Dalston?s People Festival: Head out to Hackney and enjoy music, stalls and informal workshops.? Noon ? 5pm

Little Angel Theatre, Going on a Bear Hunt: This wonderfully imaginative puppet show is for children ages 2+. Saturday and Sunday 11am, 1:30 and 3:30pm. Tickets ?12, but it is a really good production, check out my review?of Going on a Bear Hunt

Also, head down the road to The Gold on Portobello Road in the heart of Notting Hill?and have a fabulous family-friendly meal in a pre-gentrified Notting Hill gem. Be sure to get one of the balcony tables in the atrium area ? wonderfully food, cool venue and very family-friendly for slightly older kids.

Electric Cinema, Kid?s Club: This week?s feature, My Neighbour Totoro; 10:30am. Check out the newly refurbished Electric Cinema in Notting Hill?with its plush, red velvet beds, sofas and armchairs. Looks like a great way for Dad to occupy the kids on a Saturday morning. Tickets ?8 per person. All ages

Bastille Day, Borough Market and Bankside:? Head over to Jubilee Place in Borough Market and celebrate Bastille Day with storytelling, games, races, arts, crafts and more.? From noon-6pm, free, all ages.

Royal Academy of Art, Family Studio: A Colourful Sensation.? Explore how colour can effect moods and feelings through the creation of vibrant drawings, using a variety of different media.? 11am-2pm, all ages, drop-in, free

Regent Street, Traffic-Free Sundays: During the month of July, Regent Street will be closed to traffic, completely pedestrianized; this week there will be aural flash mobs with food and drink samplings.

Toddle in the City will be hosting a photography tour with children.? Noon-7pm, free, all ages (?5 deposit required for kids? cameras)

National Gallery, Drawing Sunday: Come take part in an artist led art workshop.? This week, explore the collection focusing on the saints and their animal symbols.? 11am ? 12:20pm and repeated 1-3:20; ages 5-11, tickets allocated on arrival

National Gallery, Magic Carpet Storytelling Session: Fly away into the paintings on Sundays at the National Gallery.? Bring children under 5 for 10:30-11 or 11:30-noon.? Free, under 5s, tickets allocated on arrival.
